  • Areas of relationship marketing (including database marketing), e-commerce (including retail and business-to-business), and services marketing (including service quality, customer service, and customer satisfaction). For well more than a decade, Dr. Cowles has been offering hybrid and online courses, and most recently has developed two Integrated Marketing Communications courses, one at the graduate level (hybrid) and one at the undergraduate level (online).

Bio

Associate Professor of Marketing, has teaching and research interests in the areas of relationship marketing (including database marketing), e-commerce/digital marketing (including retail and business-to-business), and services marketing (including service quality, customer service, and customer satisfaction). Dr. Cowles' research, teaching, and service efforts encompass the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Her research has appeared in national and international academic publications including The Journal of Marketing. Dr. Cowles' interest in infusing service quality principles and techniques into public sector organizations has led to demand for her as a speaker and educator for state and local government agencies. She has also served as a resource and consultant to the Virginia Lottery Department. Dr. Cowles' consulting experience in the private sector includes work with small businesses and large corporations alike, as well as pro bono service to numerous nonprofit organizations.
