Bio

I have been teaching managerial accounting to undergraduate students, MBAs, Executive MBAs, and PhD students, both online and face-to-face.

My research focuses on managerial accounting, specifically on the effect of incentives and control systems on effort and performance for simple or creative tasks. I use primarily an experimental economics approach, which means I examine participant behavior in laboratory settings.

I am from Karlsruhe, Germany. I have a German equivalent to a master's degree from the University of Mannheim, an MBA from Western Illinois University, and a PhD from the University of Texas in Austin. I passed the CPA Exam in Illinois. Before academia, I worked for KPMG in Germany and served in the German armed forces.
